Bad Blogger!

Oh dear...I have not blogged for some time!

The good news is my baby boy is now 1 year and 2 months old, and we're still breastfeeding! I'm so proud and I love the intimacy and cuddles we have at each feed, especially at night.

I'd say that he has between 3 and 7 feeds in the daytime (some are only a few sips, the longest day feed is about 5 mins and that's mainly to help him nap) and 1 to 3 feeds through the night. We still co-sleep with some stints in his cot, milk seems to zonk him and he treats me like his big dummy throughout the night (he doesn't have an actual dummy) so I don't mind, the cuddles are wonderful and I'll cherish every feed as I know this won't be forever. He eats his solids really well too, he loves his meat, veg and potatoes, whereas his sister was a salad, fruit and finger food lover (still is!).

The reason  haven't blogged in so long is that I genuinely get very little time alone! Baby boy sleeps from around 9pm to roughly 8am with feeding wakings, which I think is great, I once heard a phrase "it's only a sleep problem if it's a problem for your needs as a family" and whilst the "7 til 7" brigade* would be horrified at how my boy sleeps, it suits me fine :-) I had a chat with a new friend recently about negative comments regarding not getting 5 hours of you time every night - I mean, I'm all for relaxation time, but why have children if you don't want to see them past a certain time, especially at this young age!

Another reason I haven't been on here is that we hardly ever stay in, especially as it's been such lovely weather, and in the evenings I have the babies with me until  go to bed. I'm not one for sitting online with the babies at my feet and anyway they don't stay still long enough! One thing I do do is take millions of photographs on the go on my phone, and I admit I post waaaay too many to Instagram and Facebook, but I'm so proud of my little poppets!

My 3 year old starts nursery in October so maybe I'll have some time then, but baby boy is at the stage where I cannot take my eyes off him. He is napping as I write this and as it's a cold wet day, my girly is crayoning, so here I am.

Here are a few places I've breastfed this summer;

Nottingham "Beach" on the town square
Mablethorpe beach
Skegness Pier
Chatsworth House Gardens
Every park within a 5 mile radius ;-)
Paddling pools
Swimming pools/baths
Shopping Centres
Local nature reserve
A Church and a Christening party
3 Birthday parties

I must dash, but here are some of the reasons I STILL love breastfeeding, at 14 months ;-)

1. It makes him feel better if he's poorly or (at this toddling age) has a little bump!
2. The CUDDLES
3. I LOVE how much he loves it and gets all excited when he knows he's going to get a feed
4. The thought of all the nourishment he's getting!
5. The sleepy night time snuggles and the way he drops back to sleep after 5 seconds of booby - lush

I shall try to be a better blogger....I shall! I'd love your comments and thoughts!

*No offence to anyone, live and let live and all that! ;-)
